TinWise

Gamified Digital Solutions for Tinnitus Health Literacy

TinWise introduces a gamified element to health literacy of Tinnitus patients. A novel solution designed to enhance interaction,
engagement, and motivation. Gamification transforms the knowledge gained from the learning resources into action.

Aim

Addressing a gap in Health Literacy for Tinnitus in Europe: Studies conducted by our group via the Tin-TRAC project
revealed significant illiteracy due to the variable nature of the condition. A dedicated health literacy platform for tinnitus
addresses this challenge.

The overall goal of the Erasmus+ project TinWise is to empower Tinnitus patients through learning, transforming them into active players in the management of their condition.

As such, the main aim is to develop a gamified health literacy platform for chronic disorders with the use case of tinnitus.
Exploit gamification principles to increase motivation and transform knowledge in an activity. Use Co-creation principles to
develop games with equal gender representation among patients for solutions that retain motivation to learn and ensure
inclusivity.

Objectives

  • Addressing health literacy disparities identified in EU regarding Tinnitus
  • Empowering tinnitus patients by deploying a health literacy platform with gamified content, that is co-created with patients and health experts
  • Pan-european accessibility: TinWise provides an open and accessible solution for citizens and patients throughout the EU. It facilitates cross-border collaboration, enabling the exchange of health information and promoting a unified approach to health literacy on a European scale.
  • Addressing general health literacy challenges: TinWise responds to the pervasive challenge of limited health literacy highlighted by the European Health Literacy Study (HLS-EU).
  • Empowering health professionals: TinWise recognizes the need to educate health professionals in promoting health literacy and fostering active patient engagement. The project equips healthcare professionals with the skills to encourage self-help and patient participation, aligning with a more patient-centered approach to healthcare.
